Setting up prayer time reminders in Slack takes less than a minute. Here's the full walkthrough.
1. Install the app
Add Muslim Prayer Reminder to your Slack workspace from the Slack App Directory, or use the "Add to Slack" button on the homepage. You'll be asked to authorize the standard permissions needed to send you messages and read your channel list.
2. Run the setup command
In any channel or DM, type:
/prayer
This opens a short guided flow:
- Select your country and city: used to calculate accurate prayer times for your location.
- Choose which prayers you want reminders for: Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, or any combination.
- Pick a notification channel: a DM to yourself, or a shared channel for a team.
- Optionally customize the message and pre-adhan timing: get a nudge 0 to 15 minutes before the actual prayer time.
3. Check today's times anytime
Once configured, you can check upcoming prayer times without waiting for a reminder:
/prayer_times now
/prayer_times today
/prayer_times tomorrow
4. Switch languages whenever you like
The bot supports English and Arabic. Switch anytime with:
/prayer language english
/prayer language arabic
That's it. Reminders will start arriving automatically at the correct local time for your chosen prayers.
