Why Prayer Reminders Matter at Work

Why Prayer Reminders Matter at Work

For many working Muslims, the hardest part of maintaining five daily prayers isn't knowledge or intention. It's simply remembering in the middle of a packed workday. A meeting runs long, a deadline creeps closer, and Dhuhr slips by unnoticed.

The problem isn't discipline

It's easy to assume missed prayers come down to a lack of commitment, but for most people it's a visibility problem. Prayer times shift every day, they're easy to lose track of during focused work, and most workplace tools, calendars, Slack, project boards, simply weren't built with them in mind.

A nudge where you already are

That's the idea behind bringing prayer reminders directly into Slack. Instead of relying on a separate app you have to remember to check, a quiet, accurately-timed message shows up exactly where your workday already happens.

A few things make this effective:

  • Accurate, location-aware timing: prayer times are calculated for your actual city, not a rough approximation.
  • A few minutes of warning: an optional pre-adhan alert gives you time to wrap up what you're doing.
  • No new habit to build: the reminder meets you inside the tool you're already using all day.

Small friction, big difference

None of this replaces intention or discipline. But removing the friction of "did I miss it?" makes it much easier to actually show up for each prayer, even on the busiest days.
